“Cover Me Up”, marks Dan Villalobos’ first pop-fused venture teaming up with Australian singer-songwriter MAXON, evolving his sound as he continues expanding across genres. Written prior to the 2020 pandemic, the track was brought to completion during the ensuing lockdowns. MAXON’s vocals magnetise over synth-splashed grooves, crescendoing to a bold chorus, urging us to let go. “Cover Me Up” explores the choices we make and their influence on the relationships we create including with ourselves, foreshadowing much of the self re-evaluation many have faced in the last 18 months. Do we fight back or surrender?
